Highlights in Bob's Painting Career
In 1982 while Bob was a student at the
FCA's Salt Spring Island Workshop he
walked into Ruckles' barn and saw a well
lit dairy pail hanging from one of the
beams.  In a few hours he produced one
of his finest early paintings.  This painting
was chosen by the FCA to travel to
England to be shown in top English
galleries.  Double click on it  to enlarge the

In the 1990's Bob taught Mathematics in
Indonesia for three summers and as a
result absorbed the warm equator sun and
and all of the bright images.  To the  right
is his memory of a young Balinese girl
bringing offerings into the ocean.  Bali is an
absolutely wonderful island to visit.
Everyone there is an artist: ie. a painter, a
woodcarver, or a dancer etc. Go there!
In the 1990's grandchildren started to
arrive to our delight.  And so Grandpa
started painting the little ones from the
rear and did manage to capture their
personalities without  worrying about the
challenges of portrait work.
